As Director for the Southern Region since September 2006, Joe Diaz is responsible for promoting tourism to Israel in the region comprised of eleven states.  His primary responsibilities include working with the media, trade, the Christian, Jewish, and niche markets. The primary goal of the Ministry of Tourism is to increase the numbers of tourists to Israel on an annual basis. Last year was the best year ever with approximately 3.5 million tourists visiting Israel.  

In his previous position at Delta Air Line as Manager -Tourism, he was the primary contact working with International Tourism entities on a world wide basis. Responsibilities included working with clients promoting the destinations in terms of Marketing, Sponsorships and Special Events.  

Previously as Manager of Marketing & Communications, Latin America, Mr. Diaz was the primary contact at Delta with foreign government tourism offices and related entities for the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America region. He was also responsible for negotiating and implementing promotions, sponsorships and travel programs that supported Delta’s corporate objectives, thus enhancing Delta’s brand awareness and increasing the revenue channels.

Mr. Diaz was in the airline industry for 29 years, starting his career in Miami with Pan American World Airlines. His background includes Revenue Accounting, Airport Customer Service, Reservation Sales and Account Management in Corporate and Agency Sales. Previous to his positions in Washington, he was an Account Manager in the Dallas market, with responsibilities of managing accounts with total revenues exceeding $11million. Mr. Diaz has been a recipient of various sales achievement awards.

Mr. Diaz has also been involved in the Meeting industry, serving on the Board of Directors of Meeting Professionals International Chapter in Dallas/Ft.Worth.

Born in La Habana,  Cuba, and  fluent in Spanish, Mr. Diaz received his  Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing and Finance from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
